america's future.:

Right now, I have absolutely no faith in humanity.

My brother broke his arm yesterday. More accurately, he broke both major bones in his wrist, while playing in gym. And they make you take gym, and they make you change for gym. So ultimately I could blame the school. I've always found physical education to be perfectly pointless as well as dangerous. But that is not what I am going to rant about. That is not what is making me angry.

He had his clothes, and his belongings, inside a school locker. As directed. And as many children his age do every day, when they go to their gym period. After he was taken off to the school nurse, to call mother, he naturally couldn't stop to get his things. We fetched them from school today. Or what was left of them.

The money from his wallet (not that much, but we value even little bits of money highly in this family, as we don't have much of it), his two favourite necklaces. Everything of value was stolen from him. And of course, it isn't just about the money. These things never are. Upon finding that his necklaces and his money were gone, his eyes turned red, and he walked off into the next room, trying to keep himself from crying. These are a few of my favourite things. Were a few of his favourite things. And because humanity has sunk to such a low, deprived, immoral state of being, we have come to take advantage of our fellow beings, when we know they can't defend themselves. When we know there is nothing they can do.

And of course no one will come forward. No one will speak of these things. Little crimes are forged in blood, here. No one cares. Paralyzed spectators, the ones who don't laugh and wish they had thought of it themselves.

This is our future generation. The people who will run the world, eventually. The people who gain the respect and admiration of the masses because they present a clean-cut and well-groomed image to the world, courteous of money garnered to them by their parents. And still they feel the need to steal from injured people. And still they feel the need to steal from those who have less than them.

And it's no different than before. It's no different than the scavengers who would roam the sites of battles during wars, after the shooting had stopped, and the living had gone. It's no different than the criminals who hide in the streets, just waiting for someone who looks like they could be overtaken easily to be robbed, or raped, or killed. It's no different than any of that.

And eventually it doesn't matter in the end. Because no one really cares. Just one person in a mass of millions. What do two necklaces and five dollars matter anyway?

revoless.
